Gifts of Christmas

The Christmas season is here. During the month of December, what we call the Advent season, we celebrate the coming of Jesus. Part of this celebration is the giving and receiving of gifts. The prayer of Jesus in John 17 we looked at in November is a good transition into our Advent season. For it was in this prayer we discovered several resources, what we could call gifts, that God has provided for us because of Jesus. Here is what we discovered:
Ø Jesus gives us eternal life.
Ø Jesus prays for us.
Ø God protects us.
Ø Jesus gives us the words of God.
Ø We are unified with God.
Ø We have God’s love.
Ø Christ is in us.
Ø Jesus reveals God to us.
Ø We have power through the Holy Spirit to complete the mission God has for us.
Ø Jesus has confidence in us that we can complete this mission.
These gifts would be well worth pondering as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Give thanks to God for these gifts as this will help us remember the reason for the season.
